Who Should Choose a Home Visit?
A home visit hearing test can be a convenient option for people who find travelling to a clinic difficult or want to begin with an initial hearing assessment at home.
Elderly Parents and Senior Citizens
Older adults who find clinic visits tiring or uncomfortable can receive an initial hearing assessment at home. A family member or caregiver can also be present to understand the findings and recommendations.
People with Limited Mobility
A home visit may be suitable for people who use mobility aids, have physical limitations or find it difficult to travel independently.
Patients Recovering from Illness or Surgery
People recovering at home may not be ready to visit a clinic. An audiologist can review their hearing concerns and determine which assessments can be completed safely at home.
Busy Families and Caregivers
Home visits can make it easier for working families, parents and caregivers to arrange a hearing assessment without coordinating travel to a clinic.
When Should You Consider a Hearing Test?
Hearing changes often develop gradually, making them easy to overlook. You or a family member may benefit from a hearing assessment if you:
- Find it difficult to follow conversations
- Frequently ask people to repeat themselves
- Increase the television or mobile phone volume
- Struggle to hear in groups or noisy places
- Feel that speech sounds unclear or muffled
- Experience ringing or unusual sounds in the ears
- Feel tired after listening or participating in conversations
- Have recently noticed a change in hearing
- Have been advised by a doctor to get a hearing evaluation
A home visit can provide an initial assessment. However, certain symptoms and testing requirements may need further evaluation at a Resonnocare clinic or another appropriate medical facility.
What Happens During the Home Visit?
The audiologist follows a structured process based on the patient’s age, hearing concerns, medical history and assessment requirements.
Step 1: Hearing and Medical History
The audiologist asks about the patient’s hearing difficulties, when the symptoms began, previous hearing tests, noise exposure, current medicines and relevant medical history.
The patient may also be asked about situations in which hearing is most difficult, such as conversations, telephone calls, television viewing or noisy environments.
Step 2: Basic Ear and Hearing Checks
The audiologist performs suitable preliminary checks to understand the patient’s hearing condition. The exact checks depend on the patient’s needs, the home environment and the equipment available.
Step 3: Audiometry, Where Feasible
Pure tone audiometry or other suitable hearing checks may be conducted at home when the testing environment is sufficiently quiet and the required equipment is available.
Background noise, patient cooperation and the type of hearing concern can affect whether reliable testing is possible at home.
Step 4: Report and Findings Discussion
After completing the assessment, the audiologist explains the findings in clear and simple language.
With the patient’s consent, family members or caregivers may also participate in the discussion.
Step 5: Next-Step Recommendation
Based on the findings, the audiologist may recommend:
- Monitoring the patient’s hearing
- A detailed clinic-based hearing evaluation
- Additional diagnostic testing
- Medical evaluation by an ENT specialist
- A hearing aid consultation
- An online audiologist consultation
- A follow-up appointment with an audiologist
Important Note
Some advanced diagnostic tests may still require specialised clinic equipment and controlled testing conditions. The audiologist will clearly inform you when a clinic visit, ENT consultation or additional follow-up is required.
How It Works
Home Visit Booking Process
Step 1: Request a Home Visit
Complete the appointment form or call Resonnocare and share the patient’s age, location, hearing concern and preferred appointment time.
Step 2: Hearing Care Requirement Review
Our team reviews the information provided to understand whether a home hearing assessment is suitable for the patient’s current needs. Additional details may be requested before confirming the appointment.
Step 3: Confirm the Home Visit
A convenient date and time are scheduled based on audiologist availability in your location. Our team will also explain any preparation required before the visit.
Step 4: Home Hearing Assessment
The audiologist visits the patient’s home, reviews the hearing concern and conducts suitable hearing checks based on the environment and assessment requirements.
How to Prepare for a Home Hearing Test
A suitable home environment can help the audiologist conduct a more reliable assessment.
- Choose a quiet room with minimal background noise
- Keep previous hearing test reports available
- Share details of any existing hearing aids
- Keep a list of current medicines and relevant medical conditions
- Ask a family member or caregiver to be present when helpful
- Inform the team about mobility or communication requirements
- Avoid running televisions, fans or loud appliances during the assessment where possible
The audiologist may provide additional preparation instructions when confirming the appointment.
Why Choose Resonnocare for Home Hearing Care?
Audiologist-Led Hearing Assessment
The visit is conducted by a trained hearing care professional who reviews the patient’s concerns and determines which checks are suitable for the home environment.
Structured Assessment Process
The home visit includes history-taking, appropriate hearing checks, discussion of findings and a clear recommendation for the next step.
Clinically Guided Recommendations
Resonnocare does not assume that every patient requires the same test or treatment. Recommendations are based on the patient’s hearing needs, assessment findings and relevant medical history.
Clear and Honest Guidance
Not every hearing test can be completed reliably at home. When specialised clinic equipment or further medical evaluation is required, the audiologist explains why clinic follow-up is important.
Care for Different Age Groups
Home hearing support may be considered for senior citizens, adults, children and people with mobility concerns, depending on their individual assessment requirements.
Continued Hearing Care Support
Patients can continue their care through clinic-based hearing assessments, audiologist consultations, hearing aid services, online consultations and follow-up support where required.
Request a Home Visit Hearing Test
Arrange an audiologist-led hearing assessment at home for yourself, a child, an elderly parent or a family member with mobility concerns. Our team will review your requirements, confirm home visit availability and guide you through the next steps. When additional testing is required, the audiologist will recommend the appropriate clinic or medical follow-up.
